With the QuitSpam standard account, you get your own subdomain where you will receive any email addressed to that subdomain. For example, if your subdomain is blogs, you will receive any mail to any address that ends in @blogs.quitspam.com.

Therefore, when asked for an email address, you can make up anything @blogs.quitspam.com. For example, you join a forum called foruma. When you create an account on the forum, for your email address we suggest you enter something that signifies where it came from, in this example foruma@blogs.quitspam.com.

You will normally receive emails that are then sent to that address, but should they send you lots of emails, you can change it to delete all mails and no longer forward them onto you.

Free email redirection

Quitspam.com gives each user free email redirection. To use the service, you must have an email account. This could be with google, aol, yahoo or any ISP. Rather than giving this email out to websites and others, you can give out one of your quitspam email accounts and mail will be redirected to your registered account, keeping your email secret.

Your own sub domain

When you create your account, you can choose a quitspam sub domain, for example smith.quitspam.com. From then on, you can create any email address @smith.quitspam.com. For example, if you are registering on the microsoft website, you can create an email address microsoft@smith.quitspam.com.

Unlimited email accounts

With quitspam.com, you can have 25 email address with the free account, upto 1000 with the premium account

Forward or delete

Each email account can be configured to either

• Forward - all mail is forwarded onto you
• Delete - mail is deleted (sender believes you have received it)

Log of last emails

Each of the last 100 emails are kept to assist in adding rules or customising accounts.

Virus protection

Up to date virus protection is included with the email account. Any email containing a virus will be deleted. You can turn this feature off if desired.

Spam protection

Advanced spam protection using spammer lists and many other detection algorithms is provided and is customiseable by the user. You can select a score from very low to high and any spam scoring more than this will be blocked. This means you can select how many emails you wish to drop.

Friend list

By adding friends onto the friend list, any mail from this person will come straight through. Mails from friends will still be virus checked if this feature is enabled.

Blacklist

By adding people to the blacklist, any mails from these people will be deleted. You can add whole domains if you wish.

Challenge response

This is one of the latest and highest success method of spam detection. Each person that sends you an email, if they are not in your friends list or blacklist, they will have an email sent to them asking to click on a link and verifiy that they are real (and not a spammer). Nearly all spammers use fake return addresses, so they will not see the challenge email and the email will never be sent to you.

Emails are kept for 7 days. If the sender clicks on the link, the email will be released and sent onto you and the sender added to your friends list.

Quitspam Email hiding

The problem with most methods of hiding your email is that as soon as you reply to the person, you show your real email address. Quitspam.com provides a method of hiding your email from the user. All mails from and to you and sent via quitspam which changes the details so your email address is kept secret. The reply-to field is also modified, so whenever you click reply, it automatically goes via quitspam.

Custom Domain Names

One unique feature to Quitspam.com is the ability to add your own custom domains. If you have your own domain name, you can modify the records to send all mail to quitspam.com instead of your default addresses. For instance, if your have a domain name of abcbuilding.com, you can use that instead of quitspam.com. This means, that you could have a marketing@abcbuilding.com, a sales@abcbuilding.com and a customerservice@abcbuilding.com with all mails being sent onto you an being hidden and your email address being kept secret.
